Πάνο Λυμπερόπουλο
I was born in Athens in 1984 and my school years were divided between Athens and Kalamata which is my hometown. My studies and degrees are on Political Science (University of Crete), Human Resource Management (Strathclyde University), Psychotherapy (Continuing Education and Lifelong Learning NKUA). At the moment i am a postgraduate STS student at NKUA and technology – arts relation is of my main focus of interest.
Coming from a long family tradition in arts and literature, art has always been a soothening path for the soul and mind and means of expression since small age. I was enrolled at the age of 5 for music studies at the National Conservatory of Kalamata spending 4 years on theory of music and introductory guitar course as instrument of choice. Soon i tried to create my own pathways of expression and experimentation with several musical instruments and i am self-taught musician on (3 stringed) bouzouki, tzouras, baglamas and other stringed instruments of the music culture of the Mediterranean basin (tabouras, mandolin, boulgari). I have great attraction on rebetika and Cretan folk music with main interest on Syrtos and Tabachaniotika. At the same time my love for jazz music and Chet Baker’s tone lead me to take trumpet classes and was a member of the municipal philharmonic ensemble of Spata – Artemis. Also since young age, lyrical and poetic writing has been for me an instinctual practice and an existential philosophical quest, expression and communication tool, critical thinking and commenting context on social issues. I have also been attracted to electronic music production, performance and straight vinyl dj-ing and have been a member of the electronic dance community since 2000.
Most recently, theatre came in to my life through amateur theatre labs and i was immediately challenged and fascinated by method acting approaches of Stanislavski, Adler, Strasberg, Meisner etc. I have also attended seminars (Mikro Polytechneio) on theatre lighting and scenography. My exposure and friction with theatre practices concluded into the co-foundation of ‘’An…’’ (What if…) theatre lab. The lab has been operating since 2018 at the city of Spata under the guidance and supervision of actor, director and tutor Stathis Anastasiou.
Deriving from Social Sciences, and despite the fact that, professionally, i have always been involved in business development oriented roles (currently marketing and branch manager for a Chinese company –Ballast Water Treatment System manufacturer- in the shipping industry), my approach and way of thinking have always been towards business-work ethics and smooth adaptation of new technologies into work and life practices. Furthermore, my innate curiosity and love of arts, culture and nature, as well as natural way of living and outdoor activities (such as hiking, mountain biking, paragliding, free running), has lead me to involvement in acts of environmental sustainability and sustainable development of remote mountainous areas, which has resulted to my outsourced cooperation with ‘‘The High Mountains’’ social cooperative, established and located at Eastern Zagori, Ioannina.
