In the last few years, NFTs have become one of the most profitable forms of digital content, rising from their niche beginnings to the dominance in the global context. Since auction houses included NFTs in their sales, the NFT market consolidated, and several names crystalized as the leaders of the new movement.
Among them is Beeple, the record-breaking digital content creator who raised to global fame with his Everydays: The First 5000 Days (2021) sold at Christie’s for $69.5 million. His second most expensive piece, as news reported, is HUMAN ONE, which sold for almost $29 million to Swiss entrepreneur Ryan Zurrer, and currently on view at M+, Asia’s first global museum of contemporary visual culture in the West Kowloon Cultural District in Hong Kong.
“HUMAN ONE is an ongoing experiment trying to bridge the digital and physical world in an open-ended canvas, a moving work of art that restlessly exhibits timely images and creates new meanings. I am delighted to see the ongoing journey of HUMAN ONE extend beyond geographical boundaries, to arrive at M+ for a diverse and daring audience in Hong Kong,” said Beeple about the exhibition.
