One of the largest art fairs, Art Basel, will return next year to its traditional location in Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. It will be the first show since Hong Kong lifted mandatory hotel quarantine, and it aims to surpass all previous editions.
The list of participating galleries is already impressive – it features 171 names, with 21 first-time exhibitors joining other leading international galleries from all over the world. They will present modern and contemporary art of the highest quality by established and emerging artists.
The Main Exhibition
The main sector will feature 129 of the world’s leading galleries showing the highest quality of artworks for their program. They will stage a unique overview of the diverse art scenes across Asia and beyond, with highlights including the first solo art fair presentation of Peter Saul (Venus Across Manhattan), a new body of works by Rao Fu (Mind Set Art Center), and a survey of Rasheed Araeen (Rossi & Rossi).
An installation by Danh Võ will feature at Vitamin Creative Space, inspired by the artist’s practice in a farm garden north of Berlin. Shibunkaku will present leading artists from the Japanese post-war avant-garde calligraphy movement, including g Morita Shiryū, Inoue Yūichi, Hidai Nankoku, and Shinoda Tōkō.
