Bioart Society is looking for an Artistic Director [Deadline for applications is Sunday 16th April by 23:59 (Finnish time)]
The Bioart Society is looking for an Artistic Director to join our nimble and merry team on a part-time basis. The work will start in early August, but the chosen candidate might need to be able to join some meetings already in June (these hours will be compensated for).
The Artistic Director will develop, plan and implement Bioart Society’s artistic program in a way that serves the Bioart Society’s members’ needs, and oversee the production of the different activities, like exhibitions, seminars or workshops. The Artistic Director will be working in close-knit cooperation with all other Bioart Society staff members, but especially with our Managing Director (in Finnish ‘Toiminnanjohtaja’).
Our staff of four entails a Managing Director, a Producer and a Communications Manager / Residency Coordinator and the Artistic Director. The team may also include temporary interns. The Artistic Director reports to the Managing Director and Board. Bioart Society’s work is guided by the Board, whereas the staff is responsible for running the operation and practical matters.
We are looking for a professional who is open-minded and approachable, thrives working in a small, non-hierarchical team and wants to make an impact on the Finnish and international art and culture scene. We appreciate visionary skills and sustainable and inclusive thinking. As Bioart Society is based in Helsinki, the applicant should either be living in Finland (within a commuting distance from Helsinki) or able to relocate to Finland.
We encourage applications from candidates of diverse backgrounds.
