Join us at Bishopsgate Institute on 2 & 3 March for the Climate Crisis >> Art Action symposium presented by Whitechapel Gallery and Gallery Climate Coalition. This critical two-day symposium addresses urgent environmental issues facing the UK’s public arts institutions and features leading voices from both visual arts and environmental organizations.
With expert speakers such as Alice Sharp, founder of the award-winning arts and environment organization Invisible Dust, and Justin McGuirk, Chief Curator at the Design Museum and Director of Future Observatory, this symposium provides practical solutions to empower cultural sector workers to forefront the environment in their creative output and drive change at an institutional level.
The symposium also includes a film screening and performance from Love Ssega, a musician, producer and artist whose recent single ‘Our World (Fight for Air)’ uses music to highlight how air pollution afflicts the Black community in South London.
Additional speakers include Frances Morris, Director of Tate Modern, Areeba Hamid, Co-Executive Director of Greenpeace UK; Emma Brown, Just Stop Oil spokesperson and Paddy Dillon and Lisa Burger, co-founders of the Green Book. Read the full list of speakers on our website.
By pooling expertise and data, this event equips participants with the knowledge and ambition necessary to take effective action.
