ΕΚΘΕΣΗ: Faces of Water, BOZARLAB [21/10-4/12/2022]
Art Meets Awareness
Water. We are facing unprecedented challenges around the globe. In the next 100 years, the ocean will change more than in the past 50 million years. Glaciers are melting, sea levels are rising dramatically, and pollutants are constantly flowing into our streams from industry. The importance of water often goes no further than its utilitarian value, but what about humanistic, moral, emotional, aesthetic and ethical values? These remain unjustly below the waterline.
With the Faces of Water exhibition, Bozar is zooming in on recent research and artistic creations by four artists: Theresa Schubert, Joshua G. Stein, Haseeb Ahmed and Anna Ridler. The foursome partnered with local scientists, engineers and industrial partners. During a residency, they investigated some region-specific water challenges, from which a number of artworks on the border between art, technology and science emerged using data sets, AI and a 3D clay printer, among other tools. Be amazed, consider, question and reflect upon the many faces of water.
The works presented in the exhibition are the results of residencies hosted by LUCA School of Arts, Gluon and Cittadellarte – Fondazione Pistoletto, with the support of their local ecosystem of partners.
The exhibition is curated by Sofie Crabbé (BE, writer, curator, guest professor at LUCA School of Arts and KASK)
