Qatar Creates is an initiative that curates, celebrates, and promotes cultural activities within Qatar. With the unfolding World Cup as a background, the initiative has organized numerous cultural events to celebrate the country’s cultural diversity and forge connections with the international art scene.
As part of Qatar Creates, Qatar Museums has opened the exhibition of Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama on the grounds of the Museum of Islamic Art. The exhibition, titled My Soul Blooms Forever, includes nine sculptures, of which several have never been shown in the region.

The exhibition transforms the grounds of the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) into an expansive outdoor presentation of Yayoi Kusama‘s explorations of the natural world. The sculptural installations, covered in her iconic polka-dots, are colourful, fantastically scaled plant and pumpkin forms, representative of her style.
“The grounds of the Museum of Islamic Art have become a favourite outdoor gathering place in Doha, marked by an array of public artworks that range from playful to iconic,” said Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Chairperson of Qatar Museums.
With these new installations by Yayoi Kusama — one of the world’s most visionary artists — MIA Park has been magically transformed for the people we are welcoming from around the world for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
