Virtual Art Exhibition by Contemporary Art Collectors, ‘Fabricated Realities’ [15/9-15/11 2022]
Do we create our own reality?
It is a scientific fact that we do, not in the metaphorical sense; we physically build our own “perceived” reality. In 1781, Emmanuel Kant hypothesised the existence of two realities. Objective reality and subjective reality. Neurologists have since confirmed this hypothesis. Although many believe we perceive direct reality, we perceive indirect reality. This is the brain’s representation of reality. We create multiple levels of reality with every trip we make, every story that happens, and every experience that more than one individual has. In manipulating outside stimuli, we show an alternate perspective, and it can be challenging to see beyond these fabrications to a singular truth.
