Women Artists Take Centre Stage In Sotheby’s Hong Kong Contemporary Art Sales This Fall, Balasz Takac, δημοσίευση στο Widewalls [30/9/2022]
The increasing interest in female artists that characterizes the art currents in the last couple of years seems to be reaching its peak. The best example is the current Venice Biennale curated by Cecilia Alemani, which is up to 90% composed of works made by women. The Frieze London art fair scheduled for mid-October will focus its Spotlight section on female artists. In contrast, an exhibition of works by female Abstract Expressionists is about to be presented at Art Intelligence Global’s exhibition space in Hong Kong.
The art market responds to this wave which will be proven by the largest ever offering of works by women in a Contemporary art evening sale organized by the Sotheby’s Asian franchise. The works of renowned artists active since the 1950s will be featured with those made by the burgeoning newcomers to the Asian auction market.
